Start or continue a design
The choices you see depend on how Builder was opened and whether you have previous work. You may be able to:
- Start a Brand New Design to begin with an empty sheet.
- Choose Auto Build to start by selecting artwork and quantities.
- Continue Working on Previous Design when an unfinished design is available.
- Show All My Previous Designs to find and open earlier work.

Add artwork
Upload your artwork or choose from the artwork sources the shop has enabled. Available sources may include My images, Store images, Dropbox, and Canva. Not every source or Builder tool is available for every product.
My images contains artwork available for your work. Store images contains artwork supplied by the shop. Artwork imported from Dropbox appears in My images, and importing from Canva adds the selected design pages to My images.
If an upload is rejected, check the accepted file formats and upload limit shown in Builder, then choose another file or prepare the file to meet those requirements.
Choose how to build the sheet
- Manual layout is useful when you want deliberate placement and control. Add artwork to a sheet, then arrange each item yourself.
- Auto Build is useful for jobs with many logos or transfers. Choose artwork and quantities, select the sheet sizes and product options you can use, adjust spacing when available, then review the generated sheets before applying the layout.
- Auto Nest rearranges artwork that is already placed on the active sheets. Use it for a quick repack after you have started arranging the design.

Arrange and review the sheets
Arrange the artwork on each sheet and add, duplicate, or remove sheets as needed. Before continuing, review every active sheet and make sure nothing important extends beyond the printable area.

Check artwork issues
Builder can identify issues involving artwork quality, placement outside the sheet, overlapping artwork, solid backgrounds, or transparency.
- Warnings can be reviewed and acknowledged when the shop permits you to continue.
- Blocking issues must be corrected before the design can be added to cart.
Move or resize artwork that extends outside the printable sheet. For low-resolution artwork, reduce its printed size or use a better source file. Separate overlaps that are not intentional. Inspect background and transparency warnings, then correct them or acknowledge them when the shop permits you to continue.
The shop controls the available artwork sources, Builder tools, and artwork rules for each product. Merchants can review these choices in Configure a product.
Save, close, or start over
Use Save when you want to preserve the current draft without purchasing it.
Use Close when you want to leave Builder. If the draft has unsaved changes, you may be able to Save Draft and leave, Leave without saving, or cancel the close and keep editing.
Use Start over when you want to clear the current sheet layout and begin again with one blank sheet. Starting over stays in the current design flow; it is not the same as creating a separate new design.
Add to cart
Add to cart creates the Shopify cart items for the finished sheets.
During final review, you may need to enter a design name, review the artwork checks, acknowledge any permitted warnings, and accept the shop's agreement. Every active sheet must contain artwork before you can add the design to cart.
Change a design already in the cart
- In the Shopify cart, use the design's Edit action. Its exact location depends on the shop's theme.
- Make your changes in Builder.
- Select Update cart to apply the changes to the cart.
Leaving Builder without selecting Update cart does not apply the cart changes.
